Tourism: Mick aims to safeguard and promote all aspects of our Tourism sector in a sustainable and responsible way. Organisations which represent Ireland to the worldwide tourism market do invaluable work especially in these economically difficult times. They must not be sacrificed to a myopic overemphasis on short-term financial considerations.

Irish tourism enables people to find local employment, underpins communities in rural areas and can help stop the social erosion of our population. By providing Oireachtas support we can help grow small to medium local tourism businesses while maintaining our large-scale tourism infrastructure that already supports 250,000 people.

Non-visually invasive development of our landscape must be a priority as one of our major draws is the diversity and natural beauty of Ireland.

Seanad Reform: Mick proposes that 6 of the current 11 senators nominated by the Taoiseach should, in future, be elected by Irish citizens living overseas. In this way the Irish Diaspora can be adequately and appropriately included in the political life of our country. Until this is possible Mick proposes to use his presence in the Seanad as a platform to represent the interests of Irish Citizens based overseas.

Mick believes that each candidate should be entitled to stand for only one House of the Oireachtas in each election cycle. This would put an end to the unedifying spectacle of those rejected by the people for Dáil Éireann being returned to legislative office by a back door.

Cultural: Mick has seen first-hand the benefits of promoting Irish culture abroad and in particular its capacity for bringing overseas visitors to Ireland. Mick proposes to use his presence in the Seanad as a platform to help enable more of this, specifically in setting up bilateral cultural events.

Human Dignity: Mick stands for the equal dignity and worth of every human being because he believes in the Republican principle of cherishing all the children of the Nation equally.
